"Daring Do is real... I've seen her..."

I found the premise of "Daring Don't" (4x04) absolutely far-fetched. They didn't even pick up the chance to glob comic-canon with episode-canon. Could've made Twilight's mom or at least somepony the author and then introduce Daring Do as real, but no. Daring Do is author and adventurer all in one.

In this regard, I have deemed that Rainbow Dash lost it after she was informed of the delay and the events of the episode were all in her head. Rainbow Dash is currently seeking treatment at Ponyville Hospital.

(Comic-canon, which was in fact popular opinion debunked by Andy Price, stand falls. But other points valid.)

I agree with the episode's concept, hence it's my least favorite of season 4 up to what I've seen (I'm really falling behind on episodes).
Be strong Rainbowdash, your patience with be well worth the wait. You'll get something better than a Daring Do book, Daring Do herself.

Funny thing is

Daring Do actually covers three different people from three different locations

JK Yearing, - named after JK Rowling
Adventure Style - Done after Indiana Johns
Writes about it and is late on book - Female Leader Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

But as it was.... it was okay... ish

I thought that Daring doo was actually written by an old friend of Rainbow Dash and R.D didn't remember the friend and the friend based D.D on Rainbow!  and Daring Do was another way

rofl yes xD
This is indeed far superior to the episode. Incidentally, my combination of Comic and Episode canon in this case is that Princess Twilight Sparkle’s mother is Daring Do’s editor, hence the ease with which her address was acquired.

Yay! I can finally have a use for this clip:….
They didn't even pick up the chance to glob comic-canon with episode-canon.

That would've set a dangerous precedent. People would've started to assume that the comics are indeed canon, and DHX would've ended up bound by any random idea that any random comic writer might come up with. There's a good chance that they'd have found themselves painted into all sorts of corners very soon.

This way it's been made abundantly clear that the comics are not canon, and the canon world of Equestria's left to those that know it best. I think it's for the better that way.

Cute picture, though. :) I could totally see this happening.

Well, Andy Price DID say that it's possible that Twilight Velvet had simply won an award called the "Daring Do Award," so it IS still possible for at least some aspects of the comic to be canon.

Personally, I'm taking the "optional canon" approach with the comics: If I want it to be canon, it's canon in my mind. If I DON'T want it to be canon, it's not canon in my mind. I took this same approach with the "Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell" chapter book; in my mind, nothing in that book is remotely canon.
