Funny thing is
Daring Do actually covers three different people from three different locations
JK Yearing, - named after JK Rowling
Adventure Style - Done after Indiana Johns
Writes about it and is late on book - Female Leader Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
But as it was.... it was okay... ish
That would've set a dangerous precedent. People would've started to assume that the comics are indeed canon, and DHX would've ended up bound by any random idea that any random comic writer might come up with. There's a good chance that they'd have found themselves painted into all sorts of corners very soon.
This way it's been made abundantly clear that the comics are not canon, and the canon world of Equestria's left to those that know it best. I think it's for the better that way.
Cute picture, though. I could totally see this happening.
Personally, I'm taking the "optional canon" approach with the comics: If I want it to be canon, it's canon in my mind. If I DON'T want it to be canon, it's not canon in my mind. I took this same approach with the "Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell" chapter book; in my mind, nothing in that book is remotely canon.
